What is Ouroboros?

The Ouroboros is a symbolic snake of ancient Egypt and Greece, represented with its tail in its mouth, constantly swallowing itself and being reborn from itself.

What does the Ouroboros symbolize?

The Ouroboros is a gnostic and alchemical symbol expressing the unity of all things material and spiritual, which never disappears but constantly changes form in an endless cycle of destruction and re-creation.

Where did the Ouroboros come from?

Although the word ouroboros has its origins in the Greek language, representations of the symbol have been documented in ancient Egypt as far back as the 13th and 14th centuries BC.

Is Ouroborous a bad symbol?

The ouroboros snake is a positive symbol representing unity and the natural cycle of eternal destruction and re-creation. It differs from many other cultural representations of snakes, such as those in the Christian tradition, which have distinctly malevolent connotations.
